Worth the Drive...

Special Event happening this Sunday May 5th at Hardwood Hills.... Trek Demo Day!!! Come on up for the day and ride some of the Latest and Greatest bikes from Trek (there will be other brands there to further confirm that Trek is the BEST!!!) on the beautiful trails of Radical, Gnarly and Fun.... Day runs from 10-2pm with bikes for everyone including the Superfly 29'ers and WSD's... All that's required is a Day Pass / Season's Pass and helmet... what a Deal!!!

There will also be some pretty cool people from Trek Canada Mountain Bike Team to talk about the bikes, outline upgrades and escort you on some trails....

Yes that means I'll be there... but you can ride with Pete, Cayley, Mitch or Karlee instead......
i won't be offended...

Good to be back...

Got a Special Invite from Sean Ruppel to go and pre-ride / work in the race course for next weekend at Woodnewton.... always a fun course and Sean does a great job building new trails in there every year... got to be part of a Big Group that included Cayley Brooks (still on New Zealand time...), Mike Garrigan, Mark Brusso, Adam Trimble and tons of other great, fast and eager racers...
we were all pumped and ready to ride the course (even though it was +1degree when we started) but the trails are always warmer than the road.... a bit of snow in the bushes and frost coming out of the ground... but by the end of the ride it was almost perfect condition... nice enough to for me to take my first Crash of the year in front of Glenn Meuwissee before enjoying Get Home So We Can Have Some Chili Ride home with Mandy Dreyer...
a dry race course is always a beautiful thing...

Off again On again...

I put on the Infamous Livestrong band during a week that included my brother's wedding and my grandfather's funeral.... 8 years ago... and have worn it daily since.... representing believing in yourself, committment to daily improvement, thinking of others first, and the general Bond of Cyclist... and i was proud to sport the Yellow....

Lance was one of my heros for many years, and i admired his work ethic and ability to influence others to make a difference.... i held him in very high regard for many years and defended him against the "Doubters"... but alas i was wrong... and was quite upset and in denial during and shortly after his "coming clean"....so the Yellow Band was removed shortly after the overly-hyped Oprah Interview because i was unsure of my feelings and beliefs in ANY professional cyclist of athlete.... but i have put a fair amount of thought into it and have many conversations regarding the support of Livestrong.... and have decided to return the Yellow Band to my wrist...

it is not because i believe that Lance is innocent and was crucified by Haters... quite the opposite... but because the Band... and Livestrong... are a product of Lance and have grown far greater than one person ever can... it remains a high quality organization that helps those in need and those who need something (not someONE) to believe in.... and it makes people's lives better.... so it is no longer about Lance, but about what we can achieve in life by helping others that we, in fact, need to remember that each day should be LIVEd STRONG.... "Live" because life is meant to be explored, experienced and enjoyed.. and "Strong" because we must always stand up for ourselves and those that we love, and have the confidence to believe.... we never know when this ride will come to an end and what we will be remembered for...

Do Donuts have Gluten?

hit the road on the long weekend to test the legs and get some hours... always a good challenge hitting the road with a bunch of fast young guys and seeing how you measure up...

also had a great chance to test the new Madone on something more than just the trainer... and it was as fast and smooth as Trek advertises..... sweet ride....

Got popped on the steep hill in Kettleby but was able to grab back on.... first Real Intensity is never fun but i was encouraged when Young Roadies were talking about how hard it was going up Jane Street.... glad it wasn't just me....

Nothing against Bike Police and their snack choice... just a funny picture!!
