So Now What???

So hockey for the kids ended the other week.... What do i do with all this time i now have on the weekends? Can't spend it with Sue otherwise she'll expect it consistently.... I guess i have to spend more time on my bike!!! Luke is loving playing Goalie... much to our discouragement... and he won 5 of the last 6 games for the team... came with in 1 slow whistle from getting a Shut Out in the last game... darn refs... B Champions for this year... and they had a great time.... my throat still hurts from yelling, my hand still hurts from banging the bench door, and my heart still hurts from the stress of it all... Jake "The Beast" Barnes rocked the B Championships also... scored a goal, chased down break aways, made some nice passes... and ran over a few other kids by "accident"... having him practise with Luke's Team (the Big Boys) has helped him step it up and Rock the Rink... ahhh the summer... it will be nice to enjoy the weekends again until the fall when the 6am practises start again!!!

I have been using this lube for years and it has always kept my drivetrain clean, quiet, efficient and friction free.... Forgot how good it feels....

Stopped by the Trek Store Toronto for my usual vist and to pick up my 2012 Road Machine.... just used the CX bike with a proper crank last year... and it was nice... but i forgot how nice it is to ride a full carbon, decked out Madone road bike.... so fast, so comfortable, so smooth, so beautiful... i look forward to long rides already... Internal cables all the way around... clean and smooth.... SRAM Rival drivetrain.... DoubleTap is SOOOOO the way to go!!!! Check out that Dinner Plate!!!! i hope my skinny legs can make it turn! Got to take her for a spin the other nite and loved it.... although our first ride together was raining.... Now that ain't right!!!

First round of the World Cups happened this past weekend in South Africa.... and Canada had an AMAZING showing!!!! World Champ Catherine Pendrel had a great race but faded in the last lap to finish 3rd.... and EMILY BATTY of Brooklin was in it from the start, had an amazing race and was just out of the sprint to finish 2nd!!!!! Emily and Catherine leading the charge... Canuck Girls Rock!!! "OMG!!! I just finished 2nd in a World Cup!!!) Smooth, focused and fit.... that's why she goes to Arizona every winter.... to get ready to show her best.... Congrats Emily.... you have earned it!!!

What do they put in this stuff?

Ok ... Seriously!!! Every night about 9pm i start to twitch and shake.... Nutella Fix Time... and it doesn't matter how it get it... Rice cakes, Arrowroots, Rice Chips.... no wonder i can't get down to my Race Weight... good thing it's "almost" good for me... It might be time for an....

Got out for a fun ride with Eric (maleEB) Batty the other day... nice to have company... was feeling pretty good about myself when he kept saying "Dude... we're hammering!!!".... turns out he had 2 injured ribs and couldn't breathe... don't feel so good anymore... so i've been checking in with the Trek Canada Team... Mitch - just spend 2 weeks in Cali training, Cayley - just spent 2 weeks in Cali training, Peter - enjoying Cali warm rides and leading long group rides, Adam - enjoying the perfect weather in Arizona.... and .... Barnes - riding in the snow and wind on back country roads avoiding frozen potholes and snowplow ridges so that i don't crash and freeze to death only to be eaten by foxes and crows... Spring can't come soon enough...

In Light of Recent Announcements....

Heard the other day that Graham James was back in court for his sexual and mental abuse as a hockey coach.... and that the charges are growing... i spent some time earlier this winter reading Theo Fleury's book.... and it's amazing that a guy this incredibly talented on the ice can be so messed up... sexual abuse, serious drug abuse, alcohol addiction, violence, prostitution, suicidal thoughts, gambling addiction - pretty much anything that can be self-destructive - he did it.... worth a read and an amazing insight to the life of the Pro-Hockey player.... or what their lives used to be like... was he great because his determination came from the abuse.... or did his tolerance of the abuse actually give him the chance to display his greatness? a great page turner .... and one that makes you think about the highest levels of sport and the sacrafices to get there....
